The Oscar-winning composer died in a plane crash on the 22nd June. His scores lifted already great films to another level, with the score for Titanic, in particular, capturing the audience’s hearts, becoming the best-selling orchestral film soundtrack of all time. As well Titanic he composed the scores for Braveheart, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and Avatar.
“He wrote music from the heart, and he had a big beautiful heart. I will miss his humor and intelligence, his genuine warmth as a human being. And I will miss the music that never gets written now, the scores I longed to hear.” – James Cameron
Smashing Records…
Jurassic World has certainly taken the world by storm, with both critics and fan’s loving the long awaited fourth film in the series. Not only has it had the most successful opening weekend ever, but it has now broken box office records by becoming the quickest film to pass the $1 billon mark, doing so in less than two weeks. It is the third film to reach this mark in 2015, after Fast and Furious 7 and Avengers: Age of Ultron and with several high profile releases still to come, including Star Wars: The Force Awakens, its record may not last long!
Let’s take a look…
Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation released a new trailer this week, the film sees Ethan Hunt and his team caught between a rock and hard place. While they are facing off against a mysterious group known as ‘The Syndicate’ described as “an anti IMF,” they are also having to contend with the fact their own government wants to shut them down. Previous trailers have already shown that Tom Cruise and the team have upped the action with a series of incredible stunts, an impressive feat given Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol saw him hanging off the Burj Khalifa (the world’s tallest building.) Released in cinemas on the 30th July, it appears that the fifth film in the series will live up to the reputation of its predecessors.
Other trailers released this week included Hitman: Agent 47 and Sicario, the latter of which sees Emily Blunt tackle the escalating drug wars in Mexico.
